Grow Where You’re Planted: Started on just 1/16 acre in a suburban backyard, transforming a depleted monoculture lawn into a thriving, biodiverse ecosystem with a healthy soil microbiome.
Community Partnerships: Collaborated with Grow Food For People Coalition and Denver City Greenhouse.
Food Donations: Donated 1,236.37 lbs. of fresh produce to local food banks:
IFCS: 313.52 lbs.
Metro Caring: 922.85 lbs.
Total 2024 Harvest: 3,217.37 lbs.
Backyard Harvest Haven Farm: 1,344.28 lbs.
2.5 Acre Site, Freedom Farm: 1,873.09 lbs.
Freedom Farm: Cultivated 19 beds, each 100 feet long and 28–30 inches wide, across our 2.5-acre second site.
Land Restoration | Restore the Soil Microbes
Turning Thistle Town Into Opportunity: Reclaimed the upper western section of a neglected field for the 2024 growing season, leaving the center and eastern sections fallow.
Clean-Up & Restoration: Removed plastic waste, old drip tape, black plastic ground cover, rusty field knives, and other debris left behind by previous farmers.
Soil Health Challenges: Addressed a thistle-dominated field impacted by heavy plastic use and a lack of compost application in 2023.
Land Restoration | Bring Animals Back to the Land
Good Goatness! Hosted 28 goats, including Rosie and Daisy, our first pasture-raised Mini Nubian dairy goats.
Natural Land Management: From October 1–28, 2024, goats grazed the field, naturally fertilizing and working the soil with their hooves.
Hoofs and Ladder Goat Grazing: Connect with Lauren and Harmony’s goat-grazing business for services, educational videos, and contact information.
Farm Innovation | Chickens & Rabbits
A Joel Salatin-Inspired System: Led by Farmer Chantae, the team built a stacked rabbit-and-chicken housing system.
Grassroots Twist: Our resourceful farm gals flipped the traditional model—chickens on top, rabbits on the bottom!
Innovation With Personality: A creative, adaptable approach to integrated livestock management, shaped by the unique personalities of our animals.

Grow Girl Organics took over the backyard farm, Harvest Haven. Three
Grassroots Farmers contributed 548.62 lbs. went to Uproot Colorado and ____ lbs. went to IFCS totaling ____ lbs. donated to food banks.
Total weight of 1,447.54 lbs at Freedom Farm, 2.5 acres.
Achievement: Launched First Farmer Land Access Program.
Achievement: First Grant Project with Under the Growing Tree awarded $6,962 from Jefferson County (double check proper name & link back to website / social media channels).

Achievement: Second Grant Project with Uproot Colorado awarded $49,999 from City of Denver, La Paz location, one of three Tiny Home Micro-communities addressing homeless with transitional housing. This was over a year long grant project.

March 17, 2023 Farmer Chantae presents Grassroots Farmers start up during Pueblo Food Project’s Sun Soil Water Ag Summit. Grassroots Farmers took home a cash donation of $750.00 that funded their chicken tractor which raised therapy bunnies, chicks and ducklings in Spring 2024 that add to our Community Supported Agriculture shares.

Learn More about our Ethical Breeding Practices : We provide a valuable gift to our rabbit community - strong, healthy breeders, multi-generational lineage vaccine free. We are focusing on Rex Standard and have one line of a hybrid of Silver Fox and Rex Standard. The goal with this breeding program is genetics. To produce the best offspring dis-ease free, to live healthy long lives as family pet bunnies or breeder stock for backyard and urban sustainable growers and homesteaders.
